Why I’m doing this.

Matt O’Brien outdoors with his daughter on a family trip

I’ve always wanted to give something useful back. Pro-bono work was hard to square with a full-time job and three children. New tools changed how much I can get done without lowering the standard, so I can finally price this for the businesses I grew up around.

I’m Matt O’Brien. I grew up in Williamsburg and lived there until I moved to Spain with my wife in 2015. I worked at the Williamsburg Market from 2010 to 2012 and at Off The Map Tattoo in Easthampton from 2009 to 2012. I come back every year.

These days I lead marketing at Hevy, build small software projects at night, and raise three kids.

For the curious: I’ve spent more than twelve years in growth and marketing, helped grow international companies, and co-owned a tattoo studio. I know a website has to help run a business. Looking impressive is not enough.

The work

Built around the business that is already there.

I find additional facts from multiple sources that showcase what makes each business unique and special.

A note about the work: These are working previews, not claims that a good business is a bad one. The General Store is in final review. The other two are unsolicited concepts shared with their owners.

What actually changes

Less website fuss. More useful information.

01

People can use it on a phone

Hours, menus, directions, booking, and phone numbers are where a customer expects them, without pinching or hunting.

02

Google gets the right facts

The business name, address, phone, opening hours, and services are structured clearly for search engines.

03

The site does not go stale again

Events, seasonal hours, menus, photos, and news get a regular upkeep day instead of joining a permanent to-do list.

04

You know whether it is working

A short report turns Google Analytics, Search Console, and Microsoft Clarity into useful plain-English signals.

How it works

Your current site stays put until you say go.

The whole process normally takes about 45 days. Most of that time is for thinking, checking facts, and giving you room to review, not billing hours.

  1. 1

    I do the homework

I read the existing site, public history, reviews, menus, and anything else that explains why people actually come.

  2. 2

    I build before you pay

You get a private, working preview to click through. Your existing site, domain, and email are untouched.

  3. 3

    You decide

Send corrections and changes. If you want it, we launch it. If you do not, nothing changes and there is no awkward sales chase.

The price

Small-town numbers, without small-town shortcuts.

AI makes the research and production dramatically faster. It does not choose what matters about your business, check the facts, talk through changes, or stand behind the finished site. I do.

Build and launch

$200 one time
  • A complete working preview
  • Review and corrections
  • Mobile, search, and accessibility basics
  • Launch without disturbing your email

Keep it useful

$30 per month
  • Hosting and routine upkeep
  • Monthly analytics in plain English
  • A regular day reserved for local updates
  • Help keeping events, hours, and content fresh

Reasonable questions

Things I would ask too.

Why is this so inexpensive?

I have wanted to give useful work back to Williamsburg for years, but a full-time job and three kids made open-ended pro-bono projects unrealistic. Better tools now let me do the production work much faster, so $200 is a price I can sustain for a very small number of hometown businesses.

Is this available outside Williamsburg?

Not currently. This is deliberately small and local. I have a full-time job at Hevy and am not trying to turn this into an agency.

What happens to my existing site and email?

They stay where they are while the preview is built and reviewed. A website switch should not require moving your email. Nothing changes until you approve the new version.

How much editing does $30 include?

The intent is practical upkeep, not metered nickel-and-diming: hours, events, menus, photos, news, and the occasional sensible change. Before launch, we will put the exact boundaries in writing so neither of us is guessing.

What will the monthly report tell me?

The useful parts of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Microsoft Clarity: how many people visited, what they searched for, which pages helped, and where visitors got stuck. No thirty-page dashboard dump.

What if we decide not to use the preview?

Then your current site remains exactly as it was. A preview is an invitation to talk, not an invoice or an obligation.
